Installing slidesets:- ---------------------- (1)Copy the contents of this disc into the MSCOPE directory on your hard drive. (This directory must already contain Microscope for the PC). (2)Log onto the directory from the DOS command line. (3)Enter the following at the Dos Command line:- SLIDES1 (4)The slidesets will be extracted from the compressed file into the directory. Afterwards, you can delete SLIDES1.EXE from your hard-disc to save space. (5)To use the slidesets, start Microscope for the PC and INSTALL the sets into the control database using the slideset management option from Microscope's menu. The slidesets in this pack can be viewed with all Licensed Versions of Microscope for the PC, and with the unlicensed SHAREWARE Version distributed for initial evaluation of the software. Licensing Agreement:- ---------------------- This is very simple. Users of UNLICENSED or UNREGISTERED versions of Microscope for the PC may view these slidesets for a limited period - a few weeks. If after such time, they do not wish to register, licence, or purchase a version of Microscope for the PC - then they should remove the SHAREWARE slideset pack files from their hard-disk, and erase all files on the distribution disk. Licensed & Registered users of Microscope for the PC may continue using the SLIDESET PACK indefinitely. They are considered Licensed users of all slidesets in this pack. They need take no further action to register the pack with MOLCOL SOFTWARE. They may wish however, to purchase 1 or more of the PRO slideset packs advertised here but are under no obligation to do so. Details of purchase fees and arrangements are given below. SAFETY ------ It is wise to copy the floppy disk contents onto another formatted floppy disk as soon as possible. This provides you with a 'back-up' of the files, should the distribution disk become corrupted for some reason. There should be no need to remove the write protection on the floppy during the copying or installation process. More Slidesets -------------- Other slidesets are available. A single prize will be awarded by MOLCOL SOFTWARE to 1 winner for each of the two competitions. The following details describe both competitions, the rules, and the prizes to be won. The prizes are moderate: the aim of these competitions is to encourage users of Microscope for the PC to become familiar with the controls and to promote independent research in young users. If a school wishes to submit entries by many students or teachers, it would be helpful if they indicate whether the prize should be awarded to the school or to the student. If a school wins the prize then a site-licence will be included with the prize to enable use on Microscope PRo on 10 computers at the same site. ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓ Competition 1 ▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ The SHAREWARE slideset called SHARNOR1 included in this pack has a slide of an insect which is not identified in the associated text. This slide displays with a title of 'GUESS See Text' and is the 6th slide in the SHARNOR1 slideset. The aim of the competition is to identify the insect and provide proof to us (MOLCOL). This can take the form of duplicated reference material. In addition, your entry must include an idea for an interesting slideset which could be used with Microscope for the PC. You should explain what this should be by including a written page of less than 200 words. In the event of more than 1 person correctly identifying the subject in the slide, this paper and idea will be judged by Molcol to help determine a winner. Should Molcol decide to develop a slideset based on the idea then Molcol will hold all rights to the slideset developed: the person submitting the idea will have no connected rights to the slideset nor the development based on the idea. The competition entries will be judged by Molcol. The winner will receive a prize of 1 Microscope for the PC (PRO) version 1.0 package or a cheque for £25.00; the choice between these 2 prizes to be determined by the winner. No additional correspondence will be entered into by MOLCOl and no submissions will be returned. ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ ▓ Competition 2 ▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ The SHAREWARE slideset called SHARNOR1 included in this pack has a slide of an OLEANDER LEAF vascular bundle which has been artificially altered by us to include the alphabetical letters: M O L C O L . These are not easily seen as each letter has been artfully placed into the normal details of the slide. The slide displays with a title of 'OLEANDER LEAF - MOLCOL' and is the 7th slide in the SHARNOR1 slideset. The aim of the competition is to create a TUTORIAL FILE on disc which contains indicators pointing at each letter and identifying what each letter is. Users will need to use the various controls of Microscope for the PC to help reveal where exactly in the slide these letters are placed. The entries to MOLCOL should consist of 1 x 3.5 inch floppy disc (HD or DD) containing the user's SHARNOR1.CRE file as created by him/her when using Microscope for the PC (any version). In addition, you should include a paper of less then than 30 words of why you would like to win MICROSCOPE FOR THE PC (PRO) VERSION 1.0 or the prize of £25.00. The best presented user-created tutorial file correctly identifying the 6 letters will help determine the winner. The outright winner will be determined by Molcol in the event of many equally-presented and correct entries, and will be based on the reason for wanting to win the prize.
